I was in a hurry and in need of a cake’ recipe, something not too big but good mouth-watering, delicious enough to make me forgive the short time available and luckily I found by mistake, the recipe of a famous children sweet called Kinder milk slice (or a kind of) in the blog of “The meraviglioso mondo di Antonella “ (the same blog where I had found the recipe for muffins with strawberry some days ago) and the fact that the filling does not contain gelatin or weird thickeners, really convinced me to try it. I simply replaced the vanilla industrial powder with a vanilla bean as I prefer, when possible to use natural ingredients, as well as I chose normal grain flour instead of the one suggested for cakes. Last but not least, I used the acacia honey, because in my personal experience, does not affect the final color of the preparation.
The only difficult moment was perhaps the cutting of the cake cubes , but you must remember to do it, just after leaving the entire cake in the refrigerator for a few hours , so that the consistency of the filling leaves you manage every move more easily and naturally, if you use a very sharp knife blade long ( like those used for filleting fish ) your life will be easier …
The wrong aspect of these cakes ? If you start eating them, they ended up in a flash, because they are yummy ( I have never tasted the original famous snack, but I think I will make these one again and again).
Ingredients:
120 grams of flour 0, 125 grams of sugar, 20 grams of cocoa powder, 3 large eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla powder extract (I used a vanilla bean) 1 pinch of salt. For the filling: 175 grams of condensed milk, 200 grams of vegetable cream, 2 tablespoons of acacia honey.
Divide the egg yolks and egg whites , keeping them in two different bowls . Whip the egg whites very firm with a pinch of salt. Whip the egg yolks , adding the powdered sugar . Gradually add also the sifted flour and cocoa , mixing them gently , adding the seeds of the vanilla bean as well. Place the egg whites into the mixture and gently mix everything . Take a baking sheet 40 x 30 cm , cover with wax paper and pour into the mixture , leveling it with the help of a spatula. Bake at 170 degrees in preheated oven for about 10 minute . Once ready, let it cool and prepare the filling.
In a large bowl whip the cream , to which you add the honey and condensed milk, working well with the whisk . Place the base of your cake on a tray and after removing the parchment paper, divide it into two parts and cover half of it with the stuffing. Cover with the second half of the cake biscuit, being careful not to press too hard not to overflow the filling. Leave in the fridge for a couple of hours , before cutting your sweet in slice rectangles, like the original, or in cubes portions, as I did .
